In the final days of 99, Mike and Maurike stayed with us to give us the most pleasant, chill and enjoyable combo of roomies yet. This is the gang before a night out in Brooklyn together. Photos of the way home are mysteriously missing.

Paula, Shy Aussie So Pretty

Some people radiate so much beauty that a mere glance towards the camera would send the lense shattering in so many pieces it could never be repaired. Turn your back all you want Paula, we’ll remember you like you stayed with us for a whole year. We hope you guys had a nice adventure and that you take some photos your home for us.

Hanna, miranda, montana, banana, we miss you! Look how in this picture is looks like you’re just standing in our kitchen like you belong there – like one day you just showed up and fit in all natural as can be. And then one day you disappeared and the kitchen was all here have some sunlight but you weren’t there. We’ll send you 99 pots 101 pans to your place for a visit.

Ulrike & Marcus

Ever been somewhere that looks like paradise and then it is? If you were there when we were there and you thinking the same thing, then we were all in U and M’s home town of Prenzlauer berg. See those big smiles? That’s because they are going back to heaven, to sunny streets sprinkled with green parks covered with thrifty items for sale to be place in spacious apartments upstairs from cafes that turn to drinking holes as the sun sets. Bon Voyage!

Andreas & Johanna

Don’t be afraid of Andreas’ big bad looks here; he’s actually jolly as can be. With Johanna at his side he marched in with deep approval for our little home and heartily accepted our warm welcome. Though these guys only stayed a few nights before they went along to Karina’s house around the corner we got the sense that their stay would be a great adventure.

Marco & Kathrin

You recognize this glow, right? It’s the same one we’ve seen in more than a few couples at 99. It’s accompanied by sweet soft spoken conversations, peaceful evenings and a quiet knowing. Usually we ask ourselves, what is it with these two? They’re so at ease with each other. What’s their secret? And then…dropped in quick in conversation on a night at the end of their stay we get the news: there’s going to be a baby!

Franck Dubois

Franck is a graphic artist who covers all aspects of the trade – be it print, web or just plain visual info. He stayed here solo ’cause his lady hates to fly and made his way around the city from exhibit to exhibit. We chatted over typography and pixels and traded tips about the bed and breakfast biz – since him and his wife also run a sweet guest house complete with a bakery downstairs!

Derek’s back

‘Member Derek? Well, here he is again; this time working for the Russians from the safety of our Chinatown abode. An enigma in stripes, D conducted business in a hush-hush manner, all the while playing the part of a perfect roommate. And boy, can he cook a nice looking omelette.
